Free write.

My topic was Schizophrenia my thesis statement was Based on several sources, I will argue that the portrayal of the realities of schizophrenia [and the details of John Nash's life story in the award-winning film A Beautiful Mind are depicted somewhat inaccurately in order to create an uplifting Hollywood movie. I found out several different thing that I had no knowledge on, but the real life events that occurred in John Nash's life were intriguing . They differ so much from what we see in the movie A Beautiful Mind. I would have added more to my primarily draft and maybe include a case study to compare John's schizophrenia to someone else's in order to see how widely schizophrenia ranges.

Position Paper Prompt.

I agree that based on statistical evidence, texting and making phone calls while driving, especially by teenagers, they're should be more effort to implement the laws. In figure 2, you are able to see how people in their late 40's and older have fewer vehicle crashes compared to the younger generation. Which shows just how drastic the difference between the two really is. With more younger people on the rode, the more dangerous the streets are to pedestrians. In figure 3 there is evidence showing that 70% of accidents are caused by teenagers who text while driving. Teenagers seem to be involved in more accidents and seem to be the root of the problem based on the statistical evidence. If you look at the data, their is a strong argument against texting and phone calls.

Things I need to work on.

The biggest problem I'm having is citing, so for the next two weeks I will integrate more sources into my paper as well as include citing where it is missing. I have to go back and discuss A Beautiful Mind with specific details. I am going to try and include a film still, since my paper needs to be longer. I need to compare the treatments in the film to real life treatments and discuss whether they actually work. This weekend I will take time to look for better sources and fix my errors.

Film still

A Beautiful Mind
Figure 12: In a powerful scene, the film show insulin shock
therapy used to treat John Nash's schizophrenia while his wife
Alicia (Jennifer Connelly) and psychiatrist look on.
2) **What details do you notice about the film still?
I notice the wife of John Nash turning away while they use shock therapy. His therapist is calmly watching as his wife looks away in grief.
3) What emotions can you ‘read’ in this film still? Sample evidence and cite for this film still? You are able to see the pain and sadness of His wife’s face. She’s clutching her hands as if she feels the pain her husband is enduring.

Another film still I would like to include is when the wife walks into the shed while John is in the house with the baby. That is the moment she realizes his schizophrenia hasn't gotten better. The look in her eyes is of confusion and fear, it ts the same look as before when John's friends showed her the room in his Princeton office.
